More Quarters: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>South Africa> Cape Town> More Quarters

We absolutely love visiting Cape Town (did we mention that already?) and the bit we love the most is the Kloof St, an area where real Capetonians live, drink and eat. And if there’s one thing better than being in this area, it’s having your own apartment so you can pretend for a day or two that you’re a local.

What’s More Quarters really like?

More Quarters is the absolute perfect spot for the authentic Capetonian experience- next to a nearby guesthouse so that you have back-up if you need it, but giving privacy to those who want to be flexible and explore at their own pace. The apartments are all different, but rather stylish, we thought. There are light and airy one and two-bedroomed apartments (all with wi-fi, their own sitting room and kitchen) and Redcliffe House with 4 bedrooms and a private plunge pool. This is a fabulous option for honeymooners who want something a little cooler than a traditional hotel or families who want to live the Capetonian way.

Breakfast is included at More Quarters (there’s a breakfast room in the main house), which we think is a nice touch- the last thing you feel like after an overnight flight is going shopping. Otherwise Cape Town is stuffed with foodie hotspots for eating out or delis for picking up your own treats to bring home. There’s also tea and evening port served in the main house with staff always around if you need a recommendation. Personally, we absolutely adore this area, and would struggle to leave, but it’s worth noting that if you’re set on seeing the Waterfront (and we’re prepared to bet once you’ve been down there, you’ll see why you’re staying up here) More Quarters provides transfers three times each day.

Giving back at More Quarters: More Quarters works with the Matchbox charity to uplift some of the 80% of children in Cape Town’s townships that don’t have access to early years care and are often left vulnerable or on the streets as a result. The current project is at Injongo which More Quarters can arrange for you to visit, or if you’d like to “Pack for a Purpose” the lodge is also involved with this magnificent initiative.
