Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, is quite simply, one of the most romantic lodges we’ve stayed in anywhere in Africa. So romantic in fact, that when a client asked us where he should propose, this was the first spot that sprung to mind. She said yes.
What’s Lake Manyara Tree Lodge really like?
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge has 10 utterly gorgeous treehouses, with floor to ceiling windows and baths that you’d want to wallow in for hours. Best of all are the outdoor showers, and it seems the elephants agree with us- when we stayed one popped his trunk up to drink from a fellow guest’s shower head! There is also one family suite that has two connecting en suite rooms (children’s bathroom has a shower only). The main lodge is another treehouse where you’re free to relax and enjoy post- safari drinks. Be sure to ask for a G + T- they were particularly good when we stayed. Lastly, meals are eaten in the outdoor boma- at breakfast you can smell the dampness coming out of the dust, at night, hundreds of flickering candles will light your food.
What can I do at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge?
Primarily you’re here to do game drives in Lake Manyara National Park- usually communal game drives with the lodge vehicle unless you’re travelling in with your own driver. For an extra fee, we can arrange night game drives, and also mountain bike safaris in the surrounding area- great of you’ve enjoyed a little too much safari food! Oh- and there’s a pool too if you fancy a dip between game drives around Lake Manyara.
Giving back at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge: The owners of Lake Manyara Tree lodge do much to ensure their impact on the land and the local community is a positive one. Waste food is donated to a local farmer as fodder for his pigs, the lodge supports the nearby dispensary at Mayoka, guides help to monitor the olive baboon population in the national park, and the lodge takes an active role in promoting healthcare and HIV awareness amongst its staff.
