What to do and Where to Stay in the Bazaruto Archipelago & Southern Mozambique

Extraordinary Africa>Mozambique>Bazaruto Archipelago and Southern Mozambique

The glorious islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago are just a hop, skip and a jump (or less romantically, a boat trip or heli hop) from Vilanculos. If barefoot beach holidays are your bag, then you’ve come to the right place. The lodges here are exclusive, but laid back and rustic, the beaches are pristine, and best of all, the offshore marine park makes for some fantastic diving and snorkelling- this is one of the last places in the world you will find dugongs.

Further south of the Bazaruto Archipelago, there’s a long sweep of coast, stretching all of the way to South Africa. Here the expanses of sand are broken only by dunes and the odd seaside town. This is a place to come to relax and utterly lose yourself for a day, a week, or perhaps a month or two. Who wants to go back to the daily grind when you can stay here and have dolphins?
