Extraordinary Africa>Kenya>Masai Mara>Wild Villas
A collection of three gorgeous private houses, Wild Villas is an elegant way to experience the Masai Mara — spacious, contemporary and designed for travellers who want privacy and comfort without heading deep into the wilderness. Set just over the river from the Mara, in a small enclave of high‑end homes, it has a gentler, more residential feel than a traditional bush camp, while still giving you the same service levels and easy access to superb wildlife. Each exclusive-use villa sits within acacia woodland and open lawns, positioned so you feel tucked away but never cut off…
What is Wild Villas really like?
Sleeping up to fourteen, Amani House is the largest and grandest property with seven ensuite bedrooms split between the Family House and Guest House. Most have king beds save for a playful bunk room for children. The master is a highlight, with indoor & outdoor showers, a balcony with a large copper bath and a double fireplace. The central living area in the middle has a lounge, bar, billiard room and dining room that opens up to a wide verandah and pool. A hot tub, gym, basketball and pickleball court complete the impressive line up of ways to keep everyone entertained.
Designed to sleep up to ten, Jamani House has four double ensuite bedrooms plus a bunk room, with expansive lawns that spread out to the Mara River. Designed to blend with its surroundings, there’s a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow here with canvas roll-up walls that open directly onto riverbank decks. There’s a large dining room with fireplace, library-TV room and an oversized sundowner deck with social u-shaped sofa seating. In terms of the small but none-the-less important details – it’s worth noting that you need to request hairdryers and yoga mats here so let us know if you’d like them in the rooms. Jamani House does not have a pool.
Right on the river, Olmarei is a ranch style house sleeping up to ten. It has three bedrooms in the main house and two separate cottages – perfect for multi-generational families or if you’re travelling with staff. This is a social house made for fun with an open-plan kitchen-dining room and an indoor ping pong table. Outside, there’s a BBQ area and rooftop fire pit, verandah with swing seat, and a riverside pool and gazebo offering ringside seats to the hippos’ wallowing ritual.
Prepared by the in-house chefs, meals are thoughtful and unfussy, with menus shaped around fresh and seasonal ingredients. Breakfasts are relaxed and generous, lunches often stretch into the afternoon, and dinners can be served pretty much anywhere you’d like – the team are excellent at creating atmosphere: lantern‑lit evenings in the dining rooms, long tables under the trees, or quiet meals on your veranda with the sounds of the Mara drifting in.
There are mozzy nets, Wi-Fi and fans in all the villas, and there’s a complimentary laundry service provided.
Families at Wild Villas:
Wild Villas works well for families of any age (cots are available on request). The villas offer space, privacy and flexibility, and the team are adept at shaping days around different ages.
