Mara Mara Tented Lodge is a fairly new addition to the portfolio of one of Tanzania’s most established safari companies. It’s located in the northern Serengeti, one of our favourite areas of the park, and around half an hour from the Mara River for those hoping to spot a crossing of the wildebeest migration (seasonal).
What’s Mara Mara Tented Lodge really like?
This is a fabulous option for people who aren’t so keen on the smaller, more rustic tented camps, and rather enjoy the more polished style of glamping. While there are 24 tents here, making this a fairly large camp, these are actually run as two separate wings (with 12 tents in each) so your experience will be more like staying in a 12 tent camp. The tents themselves are large, fresh and modern feeling, definitely deserving of the rather grand term of “suite”. Each suite has their own balcony and ensuite bathroom, and six of the suites are connected, perfect for families travelling on safari together.
Meals are eaten in the two main lodge areas (one for each half of the camp), and there is wifi here too. Warning from us- do not expect high speed downloads- these haven’t hit the Serengeti (yet!) Each half of the camp also has its own swimming pool- a blessing after a dusty day and a great place for children to burn off steam.
