We’re not really the sort of people to get excited by stopover hotels. By their very nature they’re just there to crash out in, and move on from in the morning. The Oyster Bay however, is a very honourable exception, and well worth considering for anyone who has some time to spend in Dar es Salaam. We’ve been lucky enough to stay here three times, once arriving with only a few hours of notice, but in plenty of time for the champagne to be put on ice and lobsters to be effortlessly produced for dinner. This what all boutique hotels ought to be like, but so rarely are. Your room is a haven of cool air-conditioning, your shower seems to be endless, and the jolly dinner-party style meals are delicious.
