Lemala Mpingo Ridge is one of the newest arrivals in Tarangire National Park. To get here it’s a windy and at times bumpy road, taking you higher and higher onto the escarpment, however it’s well worth the journey for the stunning views you find when you arrive.
What’s Mpingo Ridge really like?
Each part of the camp has been designed to make the most of this, whether you’re wallowing in the pool, or sitting at the bar with a cold gin and tonic. There’re also comfortable indoor and outdoor seating areas, a dining room and a fire that’s lit each night so you can chat with other guests about the day’s sightings.
There are thirteen standard tents at Mpingo Ridge (really more like rooms with canvas walls) with their own private decks (including an outside bathtub) and ensuite bathrooms. In this natural location the views from each are slightly different, but they’ve been designed to make the most of the outlook over the park. For guests travelling on a family safari, there is also one two-bedroomed family tent.
What can I do at Mpingo Ridge?
Our guests either arrive at Mpingo Ridge with their own driver guide, and conduct private game drives in their own vehicle, or fly in and share the camp’s vehicles with other guests on communal game drives. Should you wish, it is also possible to take early morning balloon flights in Tarangire National Park. These should be pre-booked and come at an additional cost.
