528 Victoria Falls: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>Zimbabwe>Victoria Falls>528 Victoria Falls

In a world where tourism is becoming increasingly commercialised, one of the things our guests love about visiting Africa is the many wonderful people they meet. This is why we love owner-run properties, where a huge amount of love is put into the lodge, the staff and the guests.

What’s 528 Victoria Falls really like?

528 Victoria Falls is a warm and friendly guesthouse in a quiet suburb of Victoria Falls, run by owners Paul and Meredith. It’s a short taxi ride to the falls themselves (the team are very helpful about arranging transport), but away from the noise of the helicopters overhead.

There are just 8 rooms here- one’s large enough for a triple, and there’s also a family room that sleeps 4, and a suite sleeping 5. Décor is a bright, African contemporary style with flashes of vibrant colours and prints. 528 has a pool, wifi for guests to check in at home, and a lovely rooftop bar where you have distant views to the river- an ideal spot for sundowners. They serve a lovely continental breakfast with hot options that you can request to order.  They do not serve dinner here, but the team will be more than happy to make suggestions and help you with reservations.

Giving back at 528 Victoria Falls:

528 supports two excellent local charities; Mummy’s Angels helps to support new mothers and babies who may have almost nothing to start out with. They provide everything from blankets, clothes and formula to maternity pads and guests with any extra space in their luggage are deeply welcome to contribute.  Lack of feminine hygiene products is a huge cause of girls missing out on or dropping out of education and 528 support Sewpportive, providing washable pads to girls in several schools across Zimbabwe as well as in Uganda and India.  Lights and water heaters are solar powered here, and grey water is reused in the gardens.
