Extraordinary Africa>Namibia>Skeleton Coast>Serra Cafema
Across Africa are a few very, very special places. They’re often very remote, which can make them rather costly to get to, but only adds to their magic. Serra Cafema is without doubt high on this list. Sandwiched between the desert and mountains in an on oasis on the lush Kunene River, it has a location like nowhere else in Namibia.
What’s Serra Cafema really like?
The eight villas here are the epitome of rustic luxury- spacious and comfortable, but natural, full of character and utterly appropriate to their place. Staying here is all about the landscape and the people who live in it- hike up into the mountains, head off on a quadbike to explore the dunes, float gently down the river counting crocs, or meet the local Himba community.
Giving Back at Serra Cafema:
Further down the river, on the Angolan side of the border is a sea-turtle nesting site. The owners of Serra Cafema are working to help protect the nesting beaches as well as monitor the turtles.
