Nyikani camp is a sweet, characterful tented camp in the peaceful southern part of Tarangire National Park.
What’s Nyikani Tarangire really like?
The main mess area is made up of two large tents- one a cosy a sitting area, where you can curl up with an afternoon book or an evening drink, another a dining room serving fresh food in both local and international style. Outside is the fire pit, and from here, pathways lead through the dust and acacia thorns to the nine luxury safari tents. These are made of sand-coloured canvas, and can be set up as double, triple, or twin rooms. Inside, the tents have a comfortable bed, and an ensuite bathroom with flushing loos and traditional bucket showers. The feel is firmly Tanzanian, but modern and colourful, with plenty of character. The staff here are particularly worth mentioning- warm, kind and full of thoughtful touches, like morning coffee served on your verandah. In all, this is a charming, atmospheric option in an excellent game viewing area, and we would heartily recommend this for guests wanting an authentic tented camp inside the park, without the higher costs incurred elsewhere.
What can I do at Nyikani Tarangire?
Tarangire is all about the wildlife (particularly the elephants) and our guests staying here will usually arrive with one of our private driver guides. Using the camp as your base, you will head out on game drives with your guide each day.
