Lake Manze Camp, Selous: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>Tanzania>Selous> Lake Manze

Lake Manze Camp is blessed with one of the finest locations for safari in the Selous. This lovely little safari camp is the ideal option for adventurers and romantics who want total absorption in the bush, waking up with the rising sun and falling asleep to the distant roar of a lion.

What’s Lake Manze CampĀ really like?

Lake Manze’s twelve Meru-style tents are spacious and comfortable, with double or twin beds, a small verandah for your morning coffee, and an ensuite bathroom to the rear with a shower open to the stars. These certainly aren’t the most luxurious tents we’ve seen, but frankly, with so much wonderful game viewing all around, who needs gold taps and air-conditioning?

What can I do at Lake Manze Camp?

The heart of Lake Manze Camp is the mess tent, where you’ll gather for meals (when you’re not making the most of nature and eating outside!) Really though, the reason why you’re here is where Manze excels- the game viewing. Its lakeside location means that there’re often animals walking to and fro through camp to the water- so often you don’t even need to leave to see something special. When you go out and about there are game drives in 4 wheel drive vehicles with guides, and boat safaris (a must for a lazy afternoon in our opinion!) For over 16s there are also walking safaris– a hugely exciting way of feeling as if you’re deeply immersed in the bush and a real adventure.
