Lake Masek Tented Lodge: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>Tanzania>Serengeti>Lake Masek Tented Lodge

Technically Lake Masek Tented Camp isn’t in the Serengeti at all, really it falls into the greater Ngorongoro Conservation Area, but it’s so much part of the Serengeti experience that lines on a map seem rather irrelevant here.

What’s Lake Masek Tented Lodge really like?

This gorgeous little tented camp sits in Ndutu, an area that straddles the Southern Serengeti and northern reaches of the Ngorongoro Conservation area, and is in the perfect location to catch the wildebeest migration on its annual journey through the park. During the right season (just ask us if you’re not sure) this is right in the heart of the action!
There are 20 safari tents raised up on platforms, each with a little verandah to the front and an ensuite bathroom tucked behind a little wooden partition. Special mention goes to the four poster beds, outdoor showers, and standalone baths- rather romantic and lovely for washing the dust away at the end of a long day. Rooms are quite spread out so after dark, Maasai warriors will escort you from your room to the main building which overlooks Lake Masek. Here, you’ll eat meals – simple and wholesome fuel for the day ahead.

What can I do at Lake Masek Tented Lodge?

In all, this is a fabulous spot for guests wishing to see the wildebeest migration between December and April, and make a good one night stop over during the rest of the year for safari-goers wishing to break the journey north.
