Singita Sasakwa, Serengeti: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>Tanzania>Serengeti>Singita Sasakwa

Singita Sasakwa is one of the most luxurious lodges in Tanzania. The lodge is stunning- very comfortable with sweeping lawns, a mix of African art, antique furniture and a classic style.

What’s Singita Sasakwa really like?

Sasakwa’s been built in the style of a classic colonial country house, with 10 guest cottages and one suite. Views are absolutely stunning, even from the pool, with food, wine and service operating at the highest level.  There’s also wifi, though we should mention that due to the incredibly remote location here, it can be slow and intermittent so please don’t come expecting the same speeds as you might have at home. Unusually for a safari lodge, there’s a fitness centre and a spa, though the lodge can provide treatments in your cottage as well. Each of the cottages (there are 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroomed cottages) are beautiful, designed with private plunge pools and large bathtubs to wallow in.  There is also the ultra-private Hillside suite, set away from the main lodge, where you can totally hide away from the world with your own butler and game drive vehicle.

What can I do at Singita Sasakwa?

Game drives take place on Singita’s beautiful 350,000 private reserve, the Grumeti Reserve. It’s spectacular to have this wilderness shared with so few other people, especially when the wildebeest migration is passing by, usually at some point in June or July. There’s also the chance to do a bush walk.  Sasakwa can arrange a number of additional activities as optional extras. There are spa treatments and hot air balloon flights (we’d recommend booking the latter in advance).

Giving back at Singita Sasakwa:

For guests who are interested in knowing more about how protecting a reserve this size works, you can visit one of the game scouts at their observation post (just to mention, this is situated on a hill to give a clear view of the reserve, so there’s a short hike to get up there).  Singita also work closely with the local communities, and guests are welcome to visit as part of their stay at Sasakwa.
