Extraordinary Africa>Mozambique>Bazaruto>Santorini Mozambique
Beautiful Santorini Mozambique is the sort of lodge that guests fall madly in love with. It was built as a private home, so feels incredibly personal and special- like visiting friends with immaculate taste and a team of charming staff. Buildings are light, airy and beautiful, décor is natural and beach-style, with plenty of blue and white, natural wood and the odd lovely antique or gorgeous piece of art. You can very much choose if you want to tuck yourself away, or get to know the other guests over an evening drink, and your private host is on hand to make sure you have everything you need.
What’s Santorini Mozambique really like?
The hub of Santorini is the main villa, where there’s the pool, lovely deck, sitting and dining areas. The team are really fun and creative so often meals are served all over the villa rather than necessarily eating in a formal restaurant. Food is usually excellent with, unsurprisingly, plenty of delicious seafood. Within the villa are 5 bedrooms – they’re all slightly different, but each is beautifully decorated, faces the sea and has a kingsized bed and a little patio outside. Santa Carolina is the largest, so costs a little more than the others, as does the Bazaruto Suite which isn’t quite as big, but has a lovely bathtub and outdoor shower on the patio.
Then on one side of the villa there’s the two-bedroomed chapel, which is often used for honeymooners who want a bit more privacy, and on the other is Villa da Praia with three bedrooms and its own lounge, kitchen and dining room. This is a great option for families who can make their own little base in Villa da Praia (Santorini is fantastic for families, but because the main villa has a fairly adult atmosphere it is for over 12s only). We should also mention that one of the rooms in this villa is accessed externally so isn’t suitable for very young children.
The latest addition to Santorini is Villa Na Colina, a private 1 bedroom villa up on the hill overlooking the Bazaruto Archipelago. It comes with it’s own pool, and you are free to choose whether you want to dine in the main hotel or in the privacy of your patio.
What can I do at Santorini Mozambique?
To make the most of the amazing views, Santorini is perched up on the cliff above the beach, but down below they’ve built shady cabanas for guests to relax in as well as a shower and loos. There are kayaks, paddle boards, beach volley-ball, cricket and badminton. If you order with your host the night before, they can arrange a picnic for you to take down too. There are gym baskets in the room, or for serious gym bunnies Santorini can arrange transfers to the gym about 10 minutes away. We could very much imagine taking it easy for the entire time you’re here, however there are some great optional extras that you can book at Santorini- boat trips out to the islands, sunset dhow trips, deep sea fishing, diving (the dive centre is in Vilanculos), riding along the beach (riders must be under 100kgs) or even riding to a remote fishing village. The local kite surfing school can come to you, and there are helicopter flights you can book from Vilanculos Airport a 20 minute drive away. Santorini also has a yoga instructor- we’d recommend booking this in advance if you are keen. Lastly, there is a lovely spa at Santorini if you need a little extra help to become totally relaxed!
