A world away from lush wetlands of the Okavango Delta are the silvery salt pans of the Kalahari. These endless expanses are studded by little other than the occasional baobab or cluster of palm trees. Stride across the pans led by bushman guides, watch meerkats scampering in the morning, and stumble across ancient fossils – untouched and unmoved for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
