Kahawa House: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>Tanzania>Arusha>Kahawa House

Tucked away on the edge of Arusha, Kahawa House is a beautifully crafted 30 room lodge that offers the perfect prelude—or epilogue—to a Tanzanian safari. With its simple but elegant blend of comfort and character, this welcoming retreat is ideally placed for travellers setting out to explore the great northern parks.

What’s Kahawa House really like?

More than just a place to rest your head, Kahawa is a pleasant spot in its own right. Winding garden paths lead through lush greenery and kitchen gardens bursting with life, inviting you to slow down and relax after a long flight. It’s a place where birdsong greets you in the morning, and where evenings are best spent unwinding on the veranda or balcony with a cool drink in hand. Dining here is a highlight: fresh, seasonal, and full of flavour. The lodge’s farm-to-table philosophy means many herbs and veggies are grown right on site—picked in the morning, plated by evening.  Rooms are well equipped and decorated in a natural Scandi style. There are interconnecting rooms for families travelling together, and a pool to take a dip in at the end of a hot dusty day. In all we’d say this is a comfortable, but not OTT base for a night or two in town.
