Saadani Safari Lodge is a pleasant little lodge set beside the Indian Ocean in Saadani National Park.
What is Saadani Safari Lodge like?
There are 9 standard bandas- thatched cottages on the beach. They have a verandah you can sit out and watch the world go by from, and a small sitting area inside. Floors are polished wood and walls are painted cream. There are double or twin beds with mozzie nets up above, and a bathroom with loo and shower to the rear. There are also 4 Maridadi Suites, which are larger, feel a little more luxurious and have an outdoor shower. Two of these can be booked as a pair for a family suite. In the centre of the lodge, there is the restaurant and bar, which has a cosy, rustic feel, and in front of this, the pool overlooking the ocean.
What can I do at Saadani?
Game drives are in open 4×4 vehicles and while game densities in Saadani weren’t perhaps on the same level as the big-name parks in Northern Tanzania, we found it a pleasurable potter nonetheless. A particular highlight during our visit was the boat safari on the Wami River- this is great for birding and there were also plenty of crocs and hippos. Guests can also take boat trips out to sandbanks in the Indian Ocean, try fat biking on the beach or visit the nearby communities.
