Extraordinary Africa>Namibia>Caprivi Strip>Hakusembe River Lodge
Hakusembe is a sweet, pretty little lodge perched on the banks of the Okavango River gazing north towards Angola. You’re just a short drive out of Rundu here, so Hakusembe is a perfect stop at the gateway to Namibia’s Caprivi Strip.
What’s Hakusembe River Lodge really like?
The 21 fairly basic, but comfortable chalets are scattered amongst the lodge’s lawns and lush, pretty gardens. There’s also a larger, two storey family chalet, a floating chalet on a pontoon above the water, and an eight pitch campsite set back from the river.
The dining room and bar have a solid, rustic feel, constructed with plenty of wood, stone and thatch. There’s also a pool- far more enticing than the river waters beyond!
What can I do at Hakusembe River Lodge?
Boat trips on the other hand are a different matter- these are an utter delight with a cold drink at sunset, and fantastic for watching the local birdlife and feeling utterly at peace with the world. If you fancy more of a challenge there’s always tiger fishing instead… (activities payable locally).
