The Weinberg: The Lowdown

Extraordinary Africa>Namibia >Windhoek>The Weinberg

Tucked into the leafy hillside of Klein Windhoek, The Weinberg is a blend of old and new, with the new wrapping around a heritage building putting a rather lovely central courtyard in the middle.

What’s The Weinberg really like?

Found on the prestigious Am Weinberg Estate with panoramic views of the valley below, which can be enjoyed in full from rooftop bar, Sky Lounge, and give you a sense of space and place. It’s an ideal place to watch the sun melt into the horizon, wine in hand (there’s a decent wine list here).

The rooms – 48 in total – echo the architecture with period touches and modern conveniences. There are 29 standard double or twin rooms, 12 ā€œcomfort roomsā€ (including 5 twin/double and 7 family rooms), and a show-stopping 2-bedroom Terrace Suite with its own kitchen, private garage and even an elevator at the entrance. The standard doubles are perfectly comfortable for a night or two with high-speed Wi-Fi and air-conditioning throughout, but we tend to favour the Courtyard Rooms.

Thanks to its location, you have a choice of dining options on the estate, which boasts four restaurants, so you can take your pick safe in the knowledge that you don’t have far to go. Breakfast is served in the hotel and is a generous spread of fresh fruits, cheeses and Ć  la carte options, while the Sky Lounge serves light bites and has an extensive wine list. Add in laundry service and an ATM – as well as a small gym – and you’ve got everything you could possibly need. There’s also free on-site parking which makes life easy for those embarking on or returning from a self-drive adventure around the country.
